On Sunday, the Orihuela town of San Bartolomé will play host to a race aimed at raising awareness of gender violence, and money to help those wanting to offer help on how to deal with the problem if you are a victim.
It was Orihuela’s councillor for Sports, Víctor Valverde, who launched the event at a press conference this week, which will take place on Sunday 18 at 10.00. “It is a sporting event that we already have settled on the calendar and, as usual, will allocate its collection to a charitable association of the municipality, in this case it will be for the Asociación de Mujeres Clara Campoamor,” Valverde said.
During the presentation, Valverdewas accompanied by the councillor responsible for the smaller villages of the municipality, Manuel Ortuño, and by Jose Luis Devés, president of “San Bartolomé se mueve”, the collective organisers of the event.
If you would like to take part in the sponsored race, and you can just walk by the way, registration will cost 6 or 9 euro depending on how you plan to complete the route, and the distance, with two options available, 5 or 10 kilometres.
“This race has already become a celebration of sport mixed with solidarity,” said Manuel Ortuño, adding that “this year we thought that gender violence could be a great end as a recipient, so the donation of the registration will be allocated in full to the benefit of the Asociación de Mujeres Clara Campoamor.
Registration can be done via the website www.asuspuestos.com or at the San Bartolomé civic centre until the day of the event, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Víctor Valverde wanted to everyone, irrespective of where you live, to participate in this event, “which unifies the promotion of sport with a social goal and is an opportunity to spend a good morning practicing sports and get to know one of our beautiful districts such as San Bartolomé”.
