In a joint operation between the Guardia Civil, Municipal Police of Madrid and the Police Cantonal Switzerland

We have spoken over 58 kilograms of cocaine of high purity and have been arrested 8 people.

The drug came to Spain through the airport of Adolfo Suarez Madrid Barajas with couriers or “mules”, and transported then by road in cars with double bottom “caletas” to different Spanish and european cities

The Guardia Civil, in collaboration with the Municipal Police of Madrid and the Police of the Canton of Switzerland, have broken up an organization dedicated to drug trafficking and arrested its eight members, in the framework of the operation “take-Off Madrid”.

The investigation began last January, when it is detected in the Airport Adolfo Suárez Madrid – Barajas airport, a young spaniard who traveled from Montevideo (Uruguay) with two suitcases containing more than 47 kilograms of cocaine of high purity.

To the suspicion that behind this young man would hold up a network of crime-organized and devoted to the introduction of cocaine into our country from different places of South america, an investigation was initiated for the identification of other members of the organization who were dedicated to the reception of the cocaine.

The development of the research, with active participation of agents of the Municipal Police of Madrid, revealed that the organization consisted of people of dominican descent and Spanish, and who were settled in Madrid, Valladolid and Palma de Mallorca.

Also, it was observed that once the drug arrived at the madrid airport, the transported, and distributed to different parts of the country and to other european countries by making use of vehicles with double bottom (caletas), for the concealment of prohibited substances.

The roles within the lattice criminal were distributed among the managers of the uptake and delivery of drug couriers to producing countries, overseeing the arrival of the cocaine into Madrid, members responsible for the custody and sale, and people who took the drug by road to different Spanish and european cities.

In the course of the investigation, agents of the French police and swiss co-ordinated by the Civil Guard intercepted two high-end vehicles of the organization when the transported drug. At the French border intercepted one of them with eight kilograms of cocaine in a double bottom, and in the swiss city of Zurich can be found another two kilograms of cocaine of high purity in a hidden compartment.

We then proceeded to the arrest of the eight members who formed the organization in Madrid, Palma de Mallorca and Valladolid, as well as the registration of their homes and a local business that regentaban in Valladolid. It involved 3,000 euros in currency fractionated, and different elements for the distribution and sale of the drug.

The detainees are 7 men and 1 woman, of dominican descent, and Spanish, between the ages of 20 and 50 years, with diverse backgrounds for scams and crimes against public health for drug trafficking. By these acts they are accused of having committed a new crime against public health for drug trafficking and another of belonging to a criminal organisation. After being placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, it decreed the imprisonment of the main investigated.
