The company Future Pipe, belonging to a multinational company with headquarters in Dubai (Persian Gulf), has announced the closure of the factory pipe that has in Ejea de los Caballeros, which will leave on the street for more than a hundred people. The company has communicated its decision through a press release in which it describes as “unsustainable” the economic situation of the company.
The closure of this factory will be a setback for the local economy of Ejea de los Caballeros and, by extension, for its region of the Five Villas. Ejea has currently 5,500 jobs for others, so the announced closing of Future Pipe will lead to the destruction of the 2% of the census of wage earners that currently the municipality of zaragoza.
“The continuing economic situation negative of the company is unsustainable,” said this industry group which has 13 plants spread across several countries and a total staff of about 3,300 employees. In the year 2013 acquired this factory in Ejea of the Gentlemen who now have to close with a Record of Employment Regulation (ERE) which provides for the extinction of their 113 jobs.
The address of the company has announced that it will open a negotiation process with union representatives to try to negotiate the terms and conditions of this ERE of extinction, “with strict respect to the law and to the rights of the personnel of the company and of its legal representatives”.
The committee of company of the factory, formed by the UGT and CC.OO., is already studying the documentation of the ERE, which they have been transferred to the company, in order to define the trade union position before the negotiation process that is going to be put in place. There is a meeting scheduled for the 27th of September, between the company and the unions.
The ERE promoted by the Spanish division of this multinational company, Future Pipe Spain, contemplates the removal of a total of 130 jobs, of which 113 correspond to the template of the factory ejeana and the 27 remaining to the administrative headquarters which the company has in Barcelona, where the company has indicated that it will only leave a small commercial office.
The factory in Ejea has been dedicated to the production of pipes for various branches of activity, both for water pipes as for pipes of petroleum and gas, as well as for industrial applications.
